Read Time:2 Minute, 2 Second

I came across some scriptures while I was in the middle of pulling out something from my stacked up pile of books and it gave me a lot to think about. I hope ya’ll don’t think I am about to talk about those kind of heart matters, LOL.

Matthew 12:34 “Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” (NKJV)

Luke 6:45 “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (NKJV)

Proverbs 4:23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (NLT)

Whenever I think of the “heart”, I think of the organ that pumps blood for the benefit of my entire body. One cannot live without that heart, when it stops beating, it means all your other organs die and life is lost. When the scriptures talk about the heart, as in the context in the above scriptures, it will be referring to our thoughts and emotions. Thoughts are brewed in the mind and for us to have our hearts conditioned towards God and spiritual things we need the mind of Christ. We cannot have carnal minds and expect good things to flow out of our hearts.

Philippians 2:15 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8: 5-7 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. (NKJV)

When we have the mind of Christ, what flows out of us reveals the condition of our hearts, and will represent a manifestation of the things of God.

Do you need a heart check? Go to God, the only cardiologist who can work on it. We don’t need to suffer from heart attacks or heart failures because we are God’s children and we have the mind of Christ.

Till next time…

Stay blessed.
