ZIMRA is driving the tax compliance mission but are they driving it in the right direction?Like in every other organisation, management has a mission and if the mission is not shared with employees who deal with the clients daily then it becomes mission impossible. I have encountered a lot of unpleasant meetings with ZIMRA officers and some of them are just so rude, you would think twice about going back to ZIMRA to sort out your issues.

Sometimes as taxpayers, we make relentless efforts to bring our accounts to good standing but most times you give up because the ZIMRA officers are just not co-operating. It does frustrate me sometimes but I have to be patient and accept that I am dealing with a government department (sometimes they just don’t care). They actually pride themselves in losing clients’ documents and give out wrong information sometimes (some of us are well-versed with tax law and accounting). After all we are all human, but we ought to strive to be competent in our jobs especially when serving the nation.
